Grönklitt Individual Time Trial Women XVII 50km, Orsa Grönklitt Sweden
Historical 50k ITT returns in Ski Classics
The Ski Classics Pro Tour continues in Sweden with a historic double event weekend in Orsa Grönklitt. On Saturday, March 7, 2026, it’s time for the Grönklitt 50k ITT Women – Event 8 of Season XVII.
The Grönklitt 50k ITT marks the first-ever 50-kilometer individual time trial in Ski Classics Pro Tour history and sets a new benchmark for long-distance ski racing with individual start. The women will tackle the full distance solo, against the clock, on a course that winds through the picturesque forests of Grönklitt.
With the highest point of 553 meters above sea level and set in one of Sweden’s most iconic ski destinations, the race promises not only breathtaking views but also a true test of endurance and strategy. Located just 30 kilometers north of the Vasaloppet finish line in Mora, Orsa Grönklitt is a well-known training and racing hub for elite and recreational skiers.
“The 50k individual time trial is maybe the most classical format in cross-country skiing, and we have been waiting for the right moment to bring this format into Ski Classics. The 50k individual race is a true challenge where athletes must work against the clock and themselves over a long distance. Of course, the main race in Ski Classics is about long-distance skiing, and having an ITT race over 50k for the first time is very exciting. I believe there might also be some new names showing their skill to race against the clock; after all, it needs some special mental strengths, and it will be important for the athletes to create game plans to follow, as a lot happens in the body over a 50k ITT,” says Oskar Svärd, Director Ski Classics.”
Following the high-speed and tactical racing of Vasaloppet in early March, the Grönklitt 50k ITT will shift its focus to individual power, technique, and pacing, offering valuable points for the Pro Team athletes.
